How valid is Kinesiology?

The basis of Energy Kinesiology is Traditional Chinese Medicine, a model that has been researched and documented for thousands of years... and also integrates in the latest in advanced neurology. Thus blending the best of ancient and present science. Kinesiology has been reviewed by governments in several countries who have deemed it valid and recognize it as a sovereign licensed profession.  New Zealand licenses it at a higher level than a Registered Nurse and approximately equivalent to a Social Worker. Kinesiologists in Australia and New Zealand receive third party payments from insurance companies.

Is it safe?

When used by a properly trained practitioner who follows accepted protocols, Kinesiology is very safe, and has no negative side effects.  Almost all systems of kinesiology have protocols set up for their particular scope of practice.  Some of these are extensively researched and tested and are very appropriate.

ICPKP & ICOHA take client safety very seriously.  ICPKP specifically includes several formal classes on how to keep a client safe.

What is the education background of the practitioners listed here?

All of the practitioners listed here have taken accredited college coursework and hold a college certificate (BKP) or diploma (PKP) and have taken a series of oral, written and practical exams to prove they are competent to practice.

All of the practitioners listed on this page qualify for USA Energy Kinesiology Association Level 2 practitioners and all of them meet or exceed licensing requirements for entry level practice elsewhere in the world.

So how do you treat my problem?

Kinesiology does not treat the symptoms or signs of named diseases.  Instead it seeks to find where your bodies energies are blocked &/or not working properly and then restore normal flow.  When your bodies energies are balanced your body can resume the process of healing itself.

A balance does not work directly on the problem, it works to rectify the underlying energy flow disturbances that created the problem in the first place.  Once the energetic obstructions are removed the bodies own healing abilities can work more effectively and your own body will work to fix itself.

What is a 'balance'?

A Balance is the term used to describe the process of a kinesiologist balancing your bodies energies.  It is the name for a kinesiology session or techniques.

What happens to me during a session?

An assessment of the bodies energies is done by testing muscles for each of the major acupressure meridians. This is done by applying gentle pressure while you attempt to hold the muscle in position.  This is not painful nor strenuous, and takes place fully clothed.

Once the initial energy pattern is identified, we then test various acupressure points and other circuits to find, then fix, the problems related to the goal. This testing uses the same gentle pressure technique as before.

Once all the circuits are cleared and the bodies energies are balanced we go back to the benchmarks that we established earlier to prove that the entire system is now "on-line" and that the problem activities are now improved or eliminated.

Many kinesiologists are limited in their scope.  Some work only nutritional, some only educational, some only mental body, some only spiritual body.  ICPKP trains it's kinesiologists to be equally fluent in all three sides of the Triad of Health.

We are aware that there are practitioners and several companies who use kinesiology, often incorrectly, to sell products.  ICPKP & ICOHA view this as unethical and it's protocols are set up to prevent this abuse from happening.

Is it confidential?

All of the practitioners listed on this web site are rigorously trained to maintain your confidentiality.  Because it is a professional training program ICPKP actively teaches and evaluates all of their students on confidentiality, ethics and professional relationships.  ICPKP graduates are qualified for licensure so will maintain all client communication in the strictest confidence.

Can a parent be in the room when working with a child?

Yes.

ICPKP teaches that for children under the age of 16 a parent or guardian should be in the room with the child.  For older teens we recommend parents to be in an adjacent room with an open door.  This allows the adolescent a layer of privacy and independence yet safety for everyone involved.

Regardless of age a client is allowed to have whomever in the room with them that they so choose.

Will I need to do anything special afterwards to maintain results?

There are no set things to do or avoid after a balance.  Each balance is unique to that person and all care plans will be based on the specific need of the client at that time.

Can it be used as an alternative to Western medicine?

No.  No form of kinesiology can be used as an alternative to Western medicine.  However It can be a very useful complementary tool to be integrated into a comprehensive care plan to ensure all of the clients needs are being met in a manner that is best for them.

This college is adamantly against alternative medicine.  Alternative means this way or that way, one or the other, or one to the exclusion of the other.  No one system has all the answers and every system has strengths and weaknesses.  This college feels that by working together as an integrated team with all other health care providers it gives the client (patient) the most overlap of positive effects and a minimum of negative.

Western medicine is physical body illness based model, Kinesiology is entire being wellness based.  By having both work together in an integrated manner the client/patient gets the best results in a safe and efficient manner. Furthermore the more we can educate the client in healthy lifestyles the less illness they will experience so the less western care they will need.

Can kinesiology be used with animals and babies?
